Healthcare Commission
Organisations which provide healthcare in the UK are regularly visited by the Healthcare Commission. The Retreat's performance is assessed annually against National Standards and Targets. Amongst other things, the inspectors look at whether The Retreat is meeting core standards of care within a quality framework. Mental Health Act Commission
The interests of detained people are safeguarded by the members of the Mental Health Act Commission. Visits are made by Commissioners to monitor compliance with the Mental Health Act 1983 and Code of Practice. These visits serve to ensure the lawfulness of detention and monitor the operation of the Act as it relates to detained people.
